Johnson Wedding

Chase and Dana’s wedding was one that we eagerly awaited all summer long. They chose the beautiful Edgewater Hotel for their venue and it’s a place we’ve always wanted to experience. The Edgewater is Seattle’s only waterfront hotel and it was built on Pier 67 for the 1962 World’s Fair. It’s a fascinating place and its views of Elliott Bay are incredible.

Dana and her bridesmaids got ready at the hotel, while Chase and his groomsmen got ready at their condo in Belltown. We all met up at the Olympic Sculpture Garden for their first look of the day and the group portraits. It was a great location for photography but we almost got stranded there by a long cargo train that decided to stop on the tracks between us and the hotel. Traffic came to a complete standstill for blocks and we thought about abandoning our car at The Old Spaghetti Factory and walking back to the hotel.

Thankfully, the train eventually got moving and the overall timeline of the day only had to be pushed back a little. The ceremony and reception both took place in the Olympic Ballroom, which is a curved room that directly overlooks the water. It gave us a spectacular view of the sunset and it gave people plenty of room to dance throughout the evening. We closed everything off with some night portraits on the balcony and we spent much of the car ride home talking about how much fun we had at this wedding.

It’s always great when something you’ve anticipated turns out to be fantastic and we were thankful for the opportunity to document the Johnson’s big day.
